Home is where the heart is.

You might look around your home - a rental & think “But this isn’t our dream home”, so think that maybe an outdoor session is better suited to you.

You aren’t alone. It’s been a common topic of discussion when chatting to clients about where to have their family or newborn session, (especially when the Gold Coast has the best to offer outdoors!). If you’re renting you can’t put anything on the walls, or feel it’s super dated or an older building, but I’m here to tell you that that is exactly a reason why you should choose to have the session there!

Do you look back at old photos of your parents or grandparents & think “ why would you take photos at home?” Of course you didn’t! You look around in the photo & feel nostalgic. Maybe have a dig at your parents clothing, sure, but you would never pick apart the photos & I’ll tell you why.

Because what you care about is WHO is in them, not WHERE.

Don’t let four walls stop you from celebrating your motherhood journey.

Don’t get me wrong I love an outdoor beach session or finding a new cool location, but there is something special about finding pockets of light in sweet areas you may not have thought of. Running around in the back yard with your pup/chicken/cat/insert family pet here, the kids putting on mum’s shoes as a joke, making afternoon tea together or jumping on the trampoline.

Live in an old building unit? What do the stairs look like, retro? Have an old bath with some sweet tiles? Perfect! Honestly I will be able to find something beautiful in your everyday that you are just so used to seeing.

Take these tiles here in Hannah’s sunroom, probably wouldn’t think too much of them but when I saw them I knew I wanted the photos to be centred around them & just look how cute Ari is crawling on them!

So get in touch and send me some pics of your rental, lets get creative & find the beauty in your home right now…because as the saying goes… “Home is where the heart is”. xo
